Living in Wales

Friday, September 29, 2006

Okay. This is not Cardiff; it's southern Indiana. This is where I would be if we were home this weekend--at McCormick's Creek State Park with my girlfriends. Miss you.

This week I:

  • went to church here for the first time, met some nice people
  • dyed my hair brown to cover the misguided attempt at highlights of a month ago
  • worked
  • went to the Welsh session at the pub with Greg
  • volunteered at the kid's school
  • bought Christmas decorations half price at the what?everything! store
  • visited the Oxfam charity store and applied to volunteer there as well [I love that store!! Used books and fair trade stuff to raise money to stop hunger. Beautiful Christmas cards (kind of like UNICEF) 20 for 1 pound 99!!! Dang! (Oh and it's not like I'm obsessed with Christmas--it's just that these things are such good deals...)]
  • attended a discussion at church on intelligent design (for a men's group!) led by Greg's colleague here
  • probably made a new friend (the only other woman at the men's group)

This weekend, I'll:

  • accompany Kaity to her first ballroom dancing lesson (You've seen "Take the Lead," right?)
  • go with the family to Oxford via car for a little rainy sightseeing
  • hike?

I can't seem to get my hair to stay brown. I'm always dying it brown, and then it comes back blonde! What's the deal?
