Catching up from last Sunday...

Thatched roof not far from the white horse.
Part of the surroundings of the white horse. Actually this is looking down from the horse onto the hill where St. George is reputed to have slain the dragon. The little white spot is said to be the place where the dragon's blood pooled. Nothing has ever grown there.
After the white horse--another ancient wonder: Avebury. It's a henge, like Stonehenge, only older and huge. there is a village in the middle of it.

The family 'midst the stones. The day was windy, very October. After the hours spent outside, we went to this charming English Inn in tiny Avebury. We had a great dinner. Outside, the wind howled and the moon shone down on the standing stones. Very mysterious.

Tonight, we've been invited to dinner at some new friends! We're very excited. Their kids go to school with our kids, and they seem like really nice people. Tomorrow we follow a path to many waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons.
