A break in the France pictures

to say happy birthday to my sister, and to update the last two weeks. Happy belated birthday, Patty!

We've been home from France almost two weeks. The time is flying. A week ago, I said, "Oh, I could go home any day now." But this week, I'm counting down, thinking about unfinished business. There are so many things we still want to do and less than eight weeks to go. We've pretty much decided we'll have to start renting cars most weekends. There's London, Scotland, and the cliffs of Dover. We haven't been to Windsor or Oxford and I want to tour an English country house. There's Glastonbury and Tinturn abbeys. We'll pass on the industrial cities--Manchester and Liverpool, but I wish I could see Norwich. And Ireland is out of the question. I'm finding that I have to quit my volunteer jobs already--the demands of the house and the family and my real job are taking a lot of time. Errands that would take 30 minutes in a car take a couple of hours here due to walking and bus schedules. Sometimes, to accomplish an errand for the kids, I have to take a whole afternoon off. And because we take off most weekends to show the world to the kids, someone has to find time during the week to do the laundry and clean the house. That would be me.

Greg's mom and cousin Judy came here last weekend. We had a great time. I took them to Cardiff castle and the bay. On Saturday, we all went to Bath, in England, only about an hour and a half away. We toured the Roman baths and learned about the Roman occupation of England. It's amazing that something so ancient still exists. Then we put the two of them on a plane to Dublin Sunday and took off for the Gower.

Peninsula, that is. I'll post pics soon. If I could bring one thing back with me, it'd be the color of the sea. It's not the same as on the East coast of America. Deep gray turquoise, with whitish breakers. Here it is November and my family were climbing the cliffs at the beach and eating ice cream outside. It was a gorgeous day.

Please be patient with me--pics soon.

Jamie, it's so close, it's sold out. As a matter of fact, I think it's tomorrow. Here, in Cardiff. People I go to church with (you would really like this church, by the way) are going and tipped me off, but I checked. My guess is that it was sold out months ago. I will catch him sometime next year at his home church!!
