Living in Wales

It's all about the sheep.

Literally. Once you leave the city, the sheep rule the countryside. Wales is a country of a little less than 3 million people, and about 11 million sheep. One day Greg, Kieron and I went hill-walking way out in the country and everywhere, I mean everywhere, we had to watch where we were stepping (if you know what I mean), whether on the path or off. Like it was a barnyard. But it was actually thousands of acres of open hills and fields and moor. So you run into sheep in the front yard of the youth hostel,
or out on the trail, where they'll watch you warily and skitter away on little hooves if you try to get a closer look.
And as you drive through the countryside, they dot the hills. (Apparently this is not too evident in the photo above, but it's a lovely view, eh?) The Welsh are proud of their sheep and proud of their home-raised lamb burgers, roast loin of lamb, and lamb and leek sausages(served properly with gravy and mash. It's yummy.)
